PCIA Bulletin 13: Government Policies and Incentives
Partnership for Clean Indoor Air
Dear Partners,
We have published the 13th issue of the PCIA Bulletin!
The Bulletin provides information on the activities of the Partnership for Clean Indoor Air (PCIA) and its Partners around the world, and is intended to increase awareness and action on indoor air pollution, household energy and health. Regular features include spotlights on PCIA partners, feature articles based on a thematic focus, and recent achievements and advances in household energy, indoor air pollution, and health.
The 13th issue focuses on governmental policies and incentives to promote household energy/indoor air pollution initiatives. In this issue, you will read about government policies and incentives that support household energy interventions from the perspective of both a governmental agency, via PCIA Partner AEPC/ESAP in Nepal, and a non-governmental organization impacted by such policies; new PCIA Partner International Center for Networking, Ecology, Education and Reintegration (ICNEER). This issue also contains articles on a U.S. State Department survey on governmental efforts to reduce IAP around the world, and suggested actions governments can take to address indoor air pollution from household energy use in an integrated manner at national, regional and international levels. Recent Partner activity updates include an agreement between Aprovecho Research Center and Chinese Shengzhou Stove Manufacturer; the PCIA Indoor Air Pollution and Household Energy Monitoring Asia Regional Workshop; the launch of the Biogas for Better Life Initiative; and the new global 'entity' that has been established between Shell Foundation and Envirofit International.
We hope the PCIA Bulletin will be an important source of information for PCIA Partners and others working to improve the lives of millions of women and children worldwide. We encourage you to submit updates on your work, announcements of new resources of interest to this community, and feedback on what information would be most useful and interesting for you to receive through the Bulletin.
The last submission date for Issue 14 is November 15, 2007. For detailed information on the topics highlighted in the Bulletin or to view previous issues of the Bulletin, please visit www.PCIAonline.org.
